With great enthusiasm and joy, a large group of more than 300 sisters and lay people lived this afternoon the opening Eucharist of the 150th anniversary that took place in Zaragoza (Spain<\/strong>). The emblematic Basilica of El Pilar welcomed the sisters of the General Government team and the Teresian communities of Zaragoza <\/strong>in a Mass presided by Archbishop D. Carlos Escribano at the Altar. Carlos Escribano at the High Altar of the basilica and concelebrated by several priests. Also in attendance were the directors, staff and students of the Enrique de Oss\u00f3 and Teresian del Pilar schools. <\/p>\n\n

In the moments prior to the beginning of the procession, the sisters gathered in the vicinity of the basilica. At 6:00 p.m. the entrance procession started together with the priests. The sisters of the Bego\u00f1a Street community, Esperanza San Juan and M. Jos\u00e9 Palos carried respectively the relic of St. Henry and the Constitutions of the Society. Sagrario G\u00f3mez, coordinator of the Enrique de Oss\u00f3 community, carried the flag. <\/p>\n\n

At the beginning of the Eucharist, the general coordinator, Sr. Angela Cuadra<\/strong>, spoke words of communion in the opening monition<\/a>:<\/p>\n\n

\n

\"From Saragossa, we know that we are intimately united with all the sisters, communities and Teresian Family of the 21 countries where the Society is present\" to celebrate \"a history woven by the Spirit with the diversity of so many threads of dedication, service, evangelical daring and fidelity\". He also wished that this Jubilee year be \"a new beginning, a return to 'first love', an invitation to allow ourselves to be renewed by the founding inspiration, to recreate the dream of Enrique de Oss\u00f3. An invitation to listen with new ardor to the call to continue to 'enteresianize' the world where life has been entrusted to us and where it is most threatened\". <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n

The readings of the Eucharist were those proper to the feast of St. Henry that remind us of his wisdom, his vocation to teach or his dedication to the service of the Lord. The first was read by Mrs. M\u00aa Pilar Mayayo, Director General of the Teresian College of the Pilar; the psalm was read by Sister Pilar Liso (Vicar General) and the second reading by Sister Beatriz Sanchez, from the community of the Teresian of the Pilar. The Gospel (Matthew 5:13-16) referred us to how Henry was salt and light of the world of his time and now the Teresian family is urged to follow our charism of \"knowing and loving Jesus to make him known and loved\". <\/p>\n\n

In his homily, the bishop began by recalling the night of inspiration:<\/p>\n\n

\n

\"it was a sleepless night that awakened the world, St. Henry understood that true transformation comes from the Spirit of wisdom.\" (...) \"that wisdom allowed her to see in women the transforming force\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He then went on to rescue the words of the Gospel: \"You are the salt of the earth, the light of the world, St. Henry called you not to remain hidden, do not allow the salt to be distorted. Your path is still alive a century and a half later. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, he delved into each stage of this celebration: inspiration, meaning, hope and concluded with an invitation: \"this time is a new impulse so that your light shines stronger than ever and your salt continues to heal the wounds of the world\".<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n

The petitions were read by Ms. M\u00aa \u00c1ngeles Mu\u00f1oz and Ms. Gloria Moreno, pastoral coordinators of the Enrique de Oss\u00f3 School and the Teresian School of El Pilar, respectively. They asked, among other things, that we continue \"to be faithful in the XXI century to the inheritance received from Enrique de Oss\u00f3, the Teresian apostle of the nineteenth century\" and that \"Teresian education always remains at the service of the most impoverished, rescues their dignity and is a means that humanizes, liberates and transforms.\" <\/p>\n\n

Along with the bread and wine, the logo of this anniversary and a bowl with mustard seeds<\/strong> representing the inspiration that Enrique had to create an association dedicated to the regeneration of the world through the education of women in the style of Teresa of Jesus were presented at the offertory <\/strong>. The offerings were carried by the sisters Pilar Anguiano, Gloria Ruiz, Mercedes Palos and Raquel Ruiz and the texts were read in unison by the general director of the Enrique de Osso School, Ms. Sofia Aznar and the member of the Teresian Family, Ms. Angelica Lopez-Montenegro. They were accompanied by a group of students. <\/p>\n\n

The Eucharist concluded with the final thanksgiving,<\/strong> read by Sisters Guadalupe Hoyos and Carmen Pardo. They expressed their gratitude for the inspiration that Enrique had to found the Society, the sisters who preceded us and the call received in so many people who today form the Teresian Family. <\/p>\n\n

At the end of the Eucharist, a floral offering was made to the Virgin of Pilar in her chapel. Angela Cuadra read the prayer and four sisters (Teresa Katumbu, Rosana D\u00edaz, Sagrario G\u00f3mez and Lourdes Badenes), representing all the sisters of the Society, offered to our mother this jubilee time and the future of the Society to remain under her maternal and protective gaze. <\/p>\n\n

\"As a family returning home and as women on the way, we come to place ourselves once again under your serene gaze in this basilica so dear to St. Henry of Osso and where today we celebrate shared life as a family. Today we bring in our hands this simple offering: flowers that speak of gratitude, of memory and of promise because to celebrate 150 years is not to look back with nostalgia, but to recognize with humility that God has been faithful and that you have sustained our step, even when our strength trembled. Mother of the Pillar, welcome our offering.\" <\/em>(Sr. Angela Cuadra.)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n

Afterwards, those present continued their appreciation for these 150 years of life by sharing a Spanish wine at the Casa de la Iglesia. <\/p>\n\n
