Teresa de Jesús Guillamón and Teresa de Jesús Plá: fidelity and expansion

May 15, 2026

The growth of the Society was possible thanks to women who, through daily fidelity, sustained and expanded the mission. Among them are Teresa de Jesús Guillamón and Teresa de Jesús Plá.

Teresa de Jesús Guillamón, born in Alcalá de Chivert in 1843, came to the Society with previous experience as a teacher. She was part of the initial group and served as warden in the first community, standing out for her spiritual depth. Enrique de Ossó defined her as a "great spirit", which was reflected in her silent but constant dedication.

Teresa de Jesús Plá, born in Santa Barbara in 1852, assumed leadership responsibilities from an early age. She was superior of the first community and responsible for the economy at various stages. In addition, she participated in the international expansion of the Society to Africa, America and Australia, showing great organizational and leadership skills. Her rapid appointment as superior was evidence of Enrique's confidence in her.

Two trajectories that show how loyalty and shared responsibility made it possible to move from "la Companyieta"...to the Company.
