As part of the celebration of the 150th anniversary, the Society of St. Teresa of Jesus will experience the most significant event of the year: an International Pilgrimage Encounter.
The commemorative meeting, under the motto "Courage and forward!", will be held from June 19 to 23, 2026 in Catalonia, traveling the paths where St. Henry of Ossó dreamed and founded this community dedicated to "knowing and loving Jesus and making him known and loved".
This meeting will not only be a commemoration, but a profound experience of "meaning" - the second stage of the anniversary - where 270 sisters and members of the Teresian Family from 21 countries of the world will gather to remember their roots and strengthen their shared mission.
A five-day walk to the source
The pilgrimage, designed as a path of interiority, will guide participants through a narrative that intertwines past, present and future:
June 19 (Tortosa): "Welcome to your home".
The meeting will begin in Tortosa, a city that will also be the central point of accommodation where the pilgrims will stay, to live these days of community, in the House of Spirituality of the Teresians in Jesus - Tortosa. From the moment of their arrival, the day will invite the participants to inhabit with a spirit of deep welcome what is known as the "house of the father". The city of Tortosa keeps among its streets and buildings the first steps of Enrique de Ossó as a seminarian and priest; there he grew his love for Jesus and his being a Teresian apostle. In addition, in the house that the Society has in Jesús-Tortosa rest the remains of St. Enrique de Ossó, a space of immense sacred value from where the saint continues to care, inspiring and watching over the entire Teresian Family.
June 20 (Montserrat): "I found my vocation".
On June 20, the pilgrimage will move to the heights of Montserrat, the emblematic spiritual setting where St. Henry de Osso found his own vocation under the gaze of Mary and where, in 1881, he consecrated the Society of St. Teresa of Jesus.
This day will be marked by a deep liturgical and communitarian intensity, where the Teresian Family will unite to participate in the Conventual Mass together with the monastic community, connecting directly with the historical roots of the congregation. In this framework, that historical religious milestone will be renewed with the Consecration of the Society to the Virgin of Montserrat.
The day will culminate with the emotional ascent to the shrine of the Virgin, joining the participants, in the tradition of the first sisters -who came to the monastery to offer their titles of teachers and to entrust themselves before undertaking each new mission-, allowing each pilgrim a moment of closeness and intimacy to deposit before "La Moreneta" their own projects, dreams and challenges.
June 21 (Tarragona) "150 years of All for Jesus".
In the cradle of the Society, the table will be the centerpiece of the day. On this day, the pilgrims will travel to Tarragona to immerse themselves in the deepest origins of the Society. It will be an intimate day to visit the historical places where the dream of the founder began to beat and where, in the small and humble chapel of St. Paul, the first Teresians made their first vows and consecrated the congregation to God forever.
The main event of the day will take place at 12:30 pm with the Eucharist of Thanksgiving in the Cathedral of Tarragona. The Hon. and Rev. Joan Planellas, Archbishop of Tarragona will preside over a space of liturgical communion where the Teresian Family will gather around the altar to give thanks for the gift of shared mission and celebrate the fraternity of a community that today extends to 21 countries.
Subsequently, the community experience will move to Tinglado 1 of the port of Tarragona, a space that will host a Fraternal Meal. This port environment will become the scene of an emotional Cultural Act and a great Family Feast, festive moments designed to celebrate the joy of the shared charism, strengthen ties and celebrate with warmth this century and a half of history and common life.
June 22 (Tortosa) "God wants it, Jesus wants it, Teresa of Jesus wants it. Go ahead!"
On June 22, under the motto of the founder, "God wants it, Jesus wants it, Teresa of Jesus wants it. Go on! The day will begin with a moment of prayer and recollection next to the Casita de San Enrique de Ossó in Jesús-Tortosa and by the inspiration that flows from the Mig Camí, a place closely linked to the first apostolic impulses of Enrique de Ossó. From this foundational experience, participants will be invited to ask themselves what realities continue to move our hearts today and how we are called to respond to the challenges of our time with creativity, audacity and hope.
Throughout the day, the gaze will also be directed towards the first eight Teresians, simple and courageous women who generously accepted the call of God and laid the foundations of the Society. Their lives, marked by promptness, fortitude, prayer, availability, the search for truth and evangelical audacity, continue to inspire the entire Teresian Family today to continue to recreate the charism with creative fidelity. In the afternoon, the webinar "A meaningful history" will offer a believing look at the path traveled by the Society, giving way to spaces for dialogue and shared reflection. The day will culminate with the vigil "A dream come true", a celebration to give thanks for God's fidelity throughout the generations and to renew the commitment to the mission received.
June 23 (Tarragona): "So that works may be born".
The closing will take place in the Chapel of St. Paul with the renewal of vows. The morning will begin early in Tortosa, as it does every day of the pilgrimage, with a "Quarter Hour of Prayer" in the Jesús-Tortosa Chapel, a liturgical space where Enrique de Ossó will spiritually and symbolically send the pilgrims on their way to the last stretch of the journey: the Chapel of St. Paul in Tarragona.
The choice of this date and place evokes that June 23, 1876 when, coinciding with the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and as the fruit of the last day of the Spiritual Exercises directed by the founder himself, the congregation was officially born.
In this significant place, the central celebration "Here we are, send us!" will take place, where the participants will renew their vows in the same place where the first young women began the Society. The meeting will conclude by sealing this century and a half of history with a renewed missionary sending forth.
A renewed commitment
This historic itinerary underscores the deep desire of the Teresian Family to continue networking, firmly committed to education and social transformation in the style of St. Teresa of Jesus and St. Enrique de Osso. In tune with this spirit, the General Coordinator of the Society, Sr. Angela Cuadra, said that this meeting seeks to reflect the "readiness to continue responding to the current challenges with evangelical audacity, readiness and generosity. Looking to the future, the Congregation reaffirms its vocation to weave hope and accompany the realities of today's world, encouraging the legacy of its founders to continue bearing fruit.
