August 26, the feast of the Transverberation of St. Teresa of Jesus, marks the end of the second stage of the 150th-anniversary celebration. We recall that this phase began on April 2, the day of the inspiration of St. Henry of Ossó, which this year coincided with Holy Thursday. That opening day brought together the entire Teresian Family through a prayer vigil, during which communities and groups from all corners of the world were united in faith thanks to materials prepared especially for the occasion.
Let's take a look back...
Over the past few months, the commemorative journey has unfolded chronologically through various moments that have strengthened the charism and the meaning of the Teresian vocation:
- Easter Celebrations and Experiences: As this “new season” began , various provinces and countries held Masses and gatherings to celebrate the start of the second phase, inviting everyone to rediscover the profound meaning of being Teresians today.
- Tribute to the First Founders: Through various campaigns, the decisive role of the first eight founders was highlighted, recognizing their dedication in the early days to the consolidation and subsequent expansion of the work of Saint Enrique de Ossó.
- Commemorative Song: To provide a soundtrack for this event, a commemorative song for the 150th anniversary was composed and released— a hymn of shared identity that was translated into English, Portuguese, and French.
- Spreading the Charism in *Vida Nueva* Magazine: Coinciding with the feast of Pentecost, the Teresian initiative reached a wider audience through the publication of a special insert on the STJ Charism in *Vida Nueva* magazine.
- Videos on the Provinces: At the same time, a series of videos was released to highlight the richness, diversity, and mission of the various provinces that currently make up the Society.
- International Gathering in Tortosa (June 19–23): This was the central highlight of this period. Nearly 200 sisters from around the world gathered at the birthplace of the foundation. During these days of fellowship, the participants attended a live webinar led by Sister Giselle Gómez, titled “Teresian Sisters: A Meaningful History, ” the transcript of which—translated into several languages—was subsequently made available to the entire Company.
- Commemorative magazine: To cap off the compilation and serve as a memento, a commemorative magazine for the International Meeting was published , featuring the experiences and testimonies from those days.
But we keep looking ahead...
After experiencing all these moments that have renewed our faith and sense of belonging, we bring this second stage to a close with a deep sense of gratitude for every moment we celebrated and shared.
Now all that remains is for us to invite each and every one of you to prepare your hearts for the third stage of the anniversary: the stage of Hope, which will run from August 26 through the closing of the anniversary on January 27, 2027.
Keep your spirits up and keep going!
